The crash claimed 2 teenage girls’ lives; 307 people were aboard the plane. Deadly July 4th Traffic Five lives were claimed in Oregon during The long 4th of July week end due to five separate traffic crashes. Last year, no traffic deaths were reported during the Indepen dence Day period. Blues Fest Nets $1.3 Million Suicide Prevention for Historic Bridge The iconic Vista Bridge has been the scene to a number o f suicides through the years. In an effort to prevent additional deaths, Portland City Commissioner Steve Novick Tuesday ordered the immediate construction o f a 9-foot-tall mesh screen on the span to service as a barrier until a long-term solution can be found.
